One of my favorites tracks off Born Sinner. Go buy it, folks.
While I’m at it, here’s a photo I took at last year’s West Indian Carnival Festival in Brooklyn. I didn’t find out till the next day that a man was stabbed to death a few minutes before this photo was taken, and just a few yards away from where I was standing.
This photo was featured in CMYK Magazine’s Top 100 New Creatives Issue #55.
Ok, I’m done flexing my prepubescent photography muscles now.
Photos from my first trip to the Philippines since I was eight. (March 13 - April 3, 2013)
These photos are of Penitensya — an important part of Holy Week in the Philippines. Men and women travel for miles, while publicly inflicting pain on themselves to be cleansed of their sins. Most whip themselves on their backs, but some do the entirety of their journey barefoot and on all fours, or while carrying a large, wooden cross. Some actually have themselves crucified, nails and all.
I’m posting these in sets, so my front page isn’t so bloody.
